It Started With a Ruined Bottle.

A special occasion. A carefully chosen wine. A corked bottle that smelled like a wet basement.

That moment — frustrating, avoidable, and unfortunately all too common — was the seed of CorkFree.com. The research that followed was eye-opening: up to 8% of all wines sealed with natural cork are compromised by TCA contamination. Billions of bottles. Every year. Going to consumers who never knew what they were supposed to taste.

Meanwhile, New Zealand had already solved this problem. Australia had solved it. Thousands of progressive wineries worldwide were producing exceptional, award-winning wines under screwcap — wines that arrived in perfect condition, every time, without the lottery of a natural cork.

We built CorkFree.com to bridge that gap. To give screwcap producers a platform. To educate wine lovers. And to make it effortless for anyone to find a wine they can trust, wherever they are in the world.

How do I get my winery listed on CorkFree.com?
Fill out our winery application form. We review every submission within 2–3 business days. To qualify, your winery must use screwcap or alternative non-cork closures for at least some of your wine range. Basic listings are completely free. Premium and Spotlight listings offer additional visibility for an annual fee.
My winery uses both cork and screwcap. Can I still be listed?
Yes! We welcome wineries that use screwcaps for part of their range. On your listing, you'll indicate what percentage of your wines use screwcap closures. We believe in celebrating progress — a winery that bottles 30% of its range under screwcap is moving in the right direction, and we want to encourage that.
Are you affiliated with any wine producers or closure manufacturers?
CorkFree.com is completely independent. We have no financial relationship with Amcor (Stelvin), Guala Closures, or any other closure manufacturer. We are not affiliated with any specific winery or wine group. Our only allegiance is to quality wine and the consumers who deserve it.
Can fine wine really be aged under screwcap?
Absolutely — and decades of research proves it. See our Science page for a detailed breakdown. The short version: Stelvin closures come in multiple liner compositions that allow winemakers to control oxygen transmission rates precisely. Clare Valley Rieslings have been aged under screwcap for 20+ years with outstanding results. The "screwcap can't age" myth is exactly that — a myth.
How do I update or remove my winery's listing?
Simply contact us with your winery name and the changes you'd like made. We aim to process all updates within 2 business days. If you wish to remove your listing entirely, we'll honor that request promptly — no questions asked.
Do you accept advertising or sponsored content?
We may in the future accept clearly labeled sponsored content and premium placement from screwcap wineries. Any commercial relationship will always be transparently disclosed to our readers. We do not accept advertising from cork producers, cork industry associations, or businesses that would represent a conflict of interest with our editorial mission.
